Mentoring
Receive support from our mental health mentor, Ben Thorpe
What is a mental health mentor?
-
a specialist providing 1-1 support in an informal setting
-
they are external, meaning they have no involvement in your club whatsoever
-
they are not meant to be a counsellor or a therapist, but rather someone to give advice
-
our mental health mentor is trained in mental health first aid and suicide prevention

Why would you use a mental health mentor?
As an athlete:
-
if you or someone in your team is struggling with mental health, he can be someone to talk to and give you advice

As a coach:
-
if you have an athlete who is struggling with their mental health, the mental health mentor can give you advice on what to do or say to them
-
if you are struggling with mental health yourself, he can help you and be someone to talk to

As someone involved in sport in another way (committee member, parent, ...):
-
he can give you advice on what to say or do if you think an athlete might be struggling
-
if you are struggling with the demands placed on you, he can be someone to talk to and give you advice
